Sturgill Simpson's take on the\u00a0John Prine classic "Paradise" was released today, ahead of the tribute LP\u00a0Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine, Vol. 2,\u00a0out\u00a0Oct. 8\u00a0on\u00a0Oh Boy Records. "Paradise" was the last song to be recorded at The Butcher Shoppe\u2014the studio Prine founded with Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer David Ferguson\u2014before the building\u2019s demolition planned for later this year. \u201cFor myself along with many others, he was a mentor," Simpson said of Prine in a statement. "He was very giving with his time and wisdom, and we were all grateful to get to know him.\u201d Each month leading up to the October release, Oh Boy will uncover a new artist and cover that will appear on the forthcoming album. But he won two posthumous\u00a0\u00a0Grammys, and Prine\u2019s set at the 2017 Newport Folk Festival is coming out on vinyl. Prine was joined onstage for that set by\u00a0Justin Vernon,\u00a0Jim James,\u00a0Margo Price,\u00a0Nathaniel Rateliff,\u00a0Lucius, and ex-Pink Floyd\u00a0member\u00a0Roger Waters.
