South By Southwest's music showcase kicks off tomorrow (March 12), and the already-stacked lineup just got a whole lot sexier. According to HitFix, Prince has joined the annual Austin festival's roster.
An unnamed source alleges the Purple One will make his first-ever SXSW appearance on March 16 at La Zona Rosa with a 22-piece band. The venue is reportedly remodeling a stage specifically for The Artist, who is known for having a certain dramatic flair. If true, Prince, who is not one for manners, would be the latest major act to hop onto SXSW's lineup at the last minute, following Dave Grohl's Sound City Players, Justin Timberlake, and Iggy and the Stooges.
Other booked performers include Kendrick Lamar (who is headlining SPIN's SXSW afternoon party at Stubb's on March 15), Vampire Weekend, the Flaming Lips, SPIN cover stars Tegan and Sara, the Black Lips, Wavves, and many, many more.
SXSW's music portion runs from March 12 to 17. Be sure to check out SPIN's extensive SXSW coverage throughout the week, but first start here:
