“This is kind of an exciting week,” Jimmy Fallon told Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic last night on The Tonight Show. The surviving Nirvana members will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight (April 10) — introduced by Michael Stipe, and possibly performing with Joan Jett — just days after the 20th anniversary of frontman Kurt Cobain’s tragic death. On Tonight, Grohl and Novoselic introduced Stevie Nicks for a performance of the Fleetwood Mac singer’s 1981 Tom Petty collaboration “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” with Fallon standing in for Petty (see also: “Gov. Christie Traffic Jam,” “Jeremy (Lin),” and many more Fallon music sketches). And then Nirvana’s bassist and drummer reminisced about the early years of Nirvana and the band’s rapid — and unexpected — rise to massive stardom.
