Kurt Vile Is Holding a Parade in Philadelphia on Saturday

Kurt Vile, parade

Kurt Vile is keeping it in Philadelphia ahead of the April 9 release of Wakin on a Pretty Daze (one of SPIN’s 50 Albums You Gotta Hear in 2013) via Matador. The album cover is a public mural in the City of Brotherly Love, and an adorable commercial for the LP actually aired on Philly’s local CW affiliate. This Saturday, a “Kurt Vile parade” will take place right there in the Smoke Ring for My Halo singer-guitarist’s hometown.

According to Matador, Tom Scharpling — of The Best Show on WFMU and SPIN’s 2012 Music Video Director of the Year fame — will host the event. Those interested in attending should email [email protected] for details. The label’s announcement also linked to a few amusing YouTube videos (including, in that last link, a welcome live clip by post-punks Magazine).

Based on our own David Bevan’s interview with Vile, parade-goers might want to bring their copy of Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk for the man to autograph, but they probably shouldn’t bring any cheese. Let us know if you see a giant Snoopy balloon hawking life insurance.
