In the span of a few weeks, CHVRCHES released their excellent debut album, covered Whitney Houston, and forcefully called out online misogyny. After all that, the Scottish trio's next move was relatively low key — a performance of two Bones of What You Believe cuts on U.K. TV show Later... With Jools Holland. Singer Lauren Mayberry led the band through energetic though fairly straightforward renditions of "The Mother We Share" (above) and "Lies" (below).

Elsewhere on Later..., Radkey demonstrated why they rank among SPIN's best new artists of this month. Scroll down to see the brotherly Missouri punk trio turn in a searing performance of "Out Here in My Head," a Misfits-like cut from this year's Cat & Mouse EP. They'll release Devil Fruit, their second extended play of the year, on October 15 via Little Man Records.
