Because cats not-so-secretly control the world (or at least the Internet), a remix of El-P and Killer Mike’s upcoming Run the Jewels 2 album — using nothing but cat sounds as music — has reached its Kickstarter funding goals.
Meow the Jewels was the brainchild of a thusfar-anonymous hip-hop-and-cat-loving genius on Kickstarter, and with the support of Run the Jewels themselves, the project raised the $45,100 it needed to become a reality. According to the Kickstarter, such impressive names as El-P, Just Blaze, The Alchemist, Geoff Barrow, Skywlkr, Zola Jesus, Nick Rook, Baauer, Prince Paul, Dan The Automator, Boots, and Tier Contributor Solidified Sun are all going to help produce the album.
El-P has also stated that any profits from the EP will be donated to Mike Brown’s family. The rapper-producer seems to be really, really excited that Meow the Jewels is happening.

No word on a release date yet. Hopefuly the record won’t be a CATastrophe, but if it is we have faith that all these skilled artists will find a way to land on their feet.
