Hear Jessie Ware and Julio Bashmore’s Sweaty Thumper ‘Imagine It Was Us’

Jessie Ware 'Imagine it Was Us' Devotion Bonus Track

Jessie Ware is reissuing her stunning Devotion, one of SPIN’s Best Albums of 2012, on April 16. The “Gold Edition” will include four bonus tracks including the new Julio Bashmore-produced single, “Imagine It Was Us,” streaming below. If you can get past the terrible BBC Radio interjections, it’s a lovely little tune built on a mellow house beat, fleshed out with echoing guitar hits and Ware’s comely voice. “I should know better than to wait for you,” she coos, but of course she does, and her guilty indulgence plays out as a dance-floor fantasy as the song gets sweatier with each thump. The new version of Devotion will also include the older Sampha collaboration “Valentine,” a new take on “Wildest Moments” featuring A$AP Rocky,” and the aforementioned Disclosure remix of “Running.” For more on the movement that Ware helped kick off, check out our Trend of the Year report on alt-R&B, and also our picks for best R&B artists in 2013.
