MGMT

It's a good day to be a fan of MGMT.

The Brooklyn psych rockers have just released "Flash Delirium," the first leak from their much-anticipated second album, Congratulations, out April 13. Head to the band's website to download the track! (NOTE: This link may expire at any moment.)

And that's not all the boys have in store. They also just announced a fan scavenger hunt to promote their new album, which will take place in six cities, beginning in New York, March 10, and wrapping up in Los Angles on March 18.

The band's website offers the cryptic instructions: "We will give clues to the secret location and a password on this page. Once you figure out where the location is -- go there -- you have 1 hour, first come first serve. You will see a person holding an MGMT flag -- go up to them and tell them the password. If you are one of the first (6) people to arrive -- your journey starts then. You will need to be free for the next 2 hours."

According to MGMT singer Andrew Vanwyngarden's recent interview with SPIN.com, the new record is influenced by surfing and psychedelic drugs -- and the songs have some equally kooky album cover art accompanying it.

MGMT will hit the road this spring behind their new album, playing Coachella, Sasquatch!, and Bamboozle. But for now, you can pound the pavement with fellow MGMT fans for an disclosed prize that's sure to be as off-beat as the guys themselves.

Hey dweebs.
Stop having expectations and just listen. As a full-time recording engineer, I hear hundreds of songs from no-namers you wouldn't even take a c.d. from. no song is wrong. that's like saying you had the wrong kind of orgasm.
I love the risks MGMT take.
Remember, Stairway to Heaven was booed the first time it was heard.

MGMT is def on ACID that is for sure. But as a festival goer I must say that this summer people are going to eat this up!! I like the changes and weird trippy phases of the song....think of it as a "journey....." haha Not bad..look forward to hearing more!

It isn't great, but It is WAY better than any other crap the record companies are producing right now.

It has good elements in it, but overall, I don't see myself listening to it again for a long while.

Oracular spectacular was one of the few full albums released in the past couple of years that I could even manage to care about. I thought maybe there was maybe a hope for new music. This new track is disappointing but it grows on me from absolutely hideous to maybe almost decent as I listen to it.

its all a matter of opinion. Noone said MGMT were Gods. But yeah its a pretty good song. Everything is built around hype. Even for the "GODS" of the past...just remember that..Look at KISS, they were never EVER as good as they were hailed, or pretended to be. Hype...its the best advertising money can buy.

Are you people insane?

This song sucks ballz.

I knew MGMT would 'ride the lightning' so hard after being famous they would **** up their sophomore effort.

The old record only had three worth while songs in it and the world took them to Rock God status. We are so desperate to find 'the next new thing' that we peg the messiah sign on every medium talent that comes around.

NEWSFLASH: The Gods already came and went my friends.

As I understand, this is a giveaway sample song, taken from a place in the record to showcase the shound and attitude. I think the abrupt ending means it's butted up to another song which carries the mood longer but they cut it here. Perhaps part of that 12 minute long medley thing they said they had going on.

But it's not going to be offered as a single,...so forget that!

I'm not too impressed with this new song. Maybe there's hope for the album?
