Green Day Stream ‘Dos,’ Continue to Showcase Back-to-Garage Basics

Green Day Dos Stream

Sure, Green Day canceled all of their tour dates for 2012 following Billie Joe Armstrong’s rehab enrollment, but they’ve done one helluva job doling out consolation gifts. (Plus, as a result of their pulling out of New Orleans’ Voodoo Music + Art Experience, pinch-headliners Metallica kinda sorta covered “American Idiot.”) There have been videos galore — for their sappy Twilight song, “The Forgotten,” for the decidedly untroubled “Troublemaker,” and of their intimate Irving Plaza show — and now they’re streaming their forthcoming full-length ¡Dos! a week ahead of its release. To hear the Bay Area punks’ second entry in their ongoing album trilogy, head over to Rolling Stone. The new one seems to continue the “back to garage-band basics” of ¡Uno!, with a notable detour or two via the sassy white girl rap found on “Nightlife” and the bright Britpop of “Stray Heart.” As previously noted, the original January 15 release date of ¡Tré! has been pushed up to December 7. No word yet on when Green Day’s postponed 2013 dates, most of which include Best Coast on the bill, will be fulfilled. Here’s hoping.
