True, numerous festivals have been added to the Whitman’s Sampler of musical options this summer, but what they lack Download 2008 has threefold: location, location, location. That’s right, with an impressive bill, Download 2008 — a SPIN experience — will hit three cities across the U.S. in July and August — Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Philadelphia — and offer fans an array of acts.

The first two stops, San Francisco and Los Angeles, set for July 19 and July 20, respectively, both feature the Jesus and Mary Chain and Gang of Four as headliners, as well as Mute Math, Brand New, Yeasayer, the Whigs, M83, Datarock, Mates of State, and the Duke Spirit. The Los Angeles stop sports Cut Copy, while S.F. offers Ghostland Observatory.

Philadelphia, on the other hand, has a few fresh additions: The Killers and Iggy Pop and the Stooges will headline the event, while Mute Math, Ghostland Observatory, Sia, the Whigs, Man Man, Louis XIV, Colour Revolt, and the Stills also play.
