For the second time in the band’s tumultuous career, bassist Dave Allen and drummer Hugo Burnham of revered Brit post-punk act Gang of Four have departed the group, this time less than three years after reforming its original lineup in 2005. According to a blog post, Burnham will begin schooling for a Doctorate and will be collaborating with Mike Watt, while Allen will be focusing on his blog, Pampelmoose.com. As previously reported, the life of late Clash axeman Joe Strummer was recently chronicled in a film documentary (with an awesome soundtrack) titled The Future is Unwritten. While the soundtrack was released last year, the documentary, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, has otherwise not been seen by the public — until now. The Future is Unwritten will arrive on DVD June 24 via Legacy Recordings. [Via Pitchfork]

As you may recall, My Bloody Valentine — before their recently detailed North American tour — will play their first U.S. show at ATP New York, a new event co-curated by the band, slated for Monticello, NY Sept 19-21. And as you may remember, the lineup is awesome. Well, it just got even better:Dinosaur Jr., Mercury Rev, Yo La Tengo, Harmonia, and Lilys will also perform alongside Built to Spill, Thurston Moore, the Meat Puppets, Shellac, and many more.

In support of his new Rick Rubin-produced album, Home before Dark, which dropped yesterday (May 7), Neil Diamond has announced a special free MySpace Secret Show, set to hit New York City’s intimate Bitter End venue tonight (May 7)!
