Alexander Brettin’s bleary psych-funk project Mild High Club is the latest in a handful of Stones Throw-affiliated acts as likely to take a tab or two and pick up an old electric guitar as they are to bust out a dust-coated SP-404. He’ll release his debut LP Timeline in a couple of weeks but before he does he’s sharing an appropriately bleary clip for “Undeniable” which plays out like an alternate universe Cheers where Brettin himself tends bar.
It’s smirking sense of humor lines up the songs tape warped guitar lines with brother-in-goof Mac DeMarco’s early Makeout Videotape recordings, a welcome tact given the familiar psilocybin-soaked sonics. Check it out here alongside a massive slate of upcoming tour dates with fellow deep trippers King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Laser Background.
