Drake’s ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’ Is a Mixtape, Not an Album

A source with OVO went on the record with 'XXL'

Drake casually dropped 17 tracks last night, and everyone has been freaking out about If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late since they woke up and heard the news. (Or maybe they listened all night and never went to bed.) And now, one of the many questions fans have about the new release appears to have been settled — it’s a mixtape, not a proper album.

There were rumors and theories that the new record is actually a full-fledged album and the follow-up to 2013’s Nothing Was the Same (note the $12.99 price tag on iTunes). It’s also possible that If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late could be Drizzy’s much-discussed Views From the 6 under a different name. But according to a source with OVO who spoke to XXL, the 17-track set is a mixtape, so for all we know right now, Views From the 6 is still coming. Until then, feast on If You’re Reading This.
