  • Early Winters 'Love Won't Leave Me Alone' Stream Carina Round

Carina Round's Early Winters Can't Outrun the Past in 'Love Won't Leave Me Alone'

Carina Round has never been easy to pin down. As a solo artist, the English singer/songwriter/shredder has garnered comparisons to everyone from Jeff Buckley to Björk to Robert Plant, but she's also a frequent player in Maynard James Keenan's Puscifer band and has moonlit as a touring member of Tears for Fears. All of that's impressive, but on February 25, Round's band Early Winters will shift the picture once more with their new album Vanishing Act.Below you can hear a stand-out taste from that set, which trades in the sort of rough-but-pretty Americana we've come to seek from Lydia Loveless and Caitlin Rose.

  • Lego Movie Everything Is Awesome Tegan Sara Lonely Island

Tegan and Sara Declare 'Everything Is Awesome!!!' in Manic 'Lego Movie' Video

By pretty much all accounts, The Lego Movie is, well, awesome. The thing has a 95 percent score with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 93 percent with the 46,021 audience-goers who've been inspired to rate it — and it's only been out for 10 days. In addition to an original score helmed by Devo dude Mark Mothersbaugh, the film sports a maximalist dance-pop beast of a theme song by Tegan and Sara with the Lonely Island assiting: "Everything Is Awesome!!!" The track's four-four beat, "party forever" refrain, and general totally aggressive happiness give it a creepily plastered-on grin. Now, the frenetic new video seen above doubles down on the manic insanity with scenes from the movie, bits made to match up with the lyrics (the "brand new pants" part being our favorite), and little Lego versions of the musicians bouncing around taped to the tops of pencils. Bad? Good? Creepy? Cute?

  • Onyx 'Wakedafucup' Stream Reunion Album Snowgoons

Onyx Command You to 'Wakedafucup' and Smell the Reunion

Early-'90s hardcore rap crew Onyx are coming back together this year to release brand new album Wakedafucup, and the titular track is now streaming below. Produced entirely by German crew Snowgoons, the forthcoming set seems to feature a throwback East Coast sound to match the record's reminiscent name — Onyx's 1993 debut LP was dubbed Bacdafucup, for those who missed the boom-bap history lesson (Joey Bada$$ can help with that).Dutch crew Dope D.O.D. appear on the darkly surging single — one of them goes pretty damned tasteless — which features all of the gruff-voiced, super-aggro shout-rhyming you've come to expect from the dudes who brought us "Slam." Onyx, whose membership include Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr, and Sonny Seeza, reappeared last year on A$AP Ferg's Trap Lord LP. Their onetime Queens neighbors Mobb Deep are also back in action for 2014.

  • Justin Bieber Wax Figure Retired Fan Groping Tussauds

Justin Bieber's Melting Wax Figure Is a Metaphor for His Whole Life

Justin Bieber is in a state of perpetual meltdown, so perhaps it's fitting that his wax counterpart in New York City has been physically warped by excessive handling. As Page Six reports, Madam Tussauds is retiring the embattled pop star's current likeness because it's been "groped, fondled, and grabbed" by so many fans that it "no longer does justice either to the star or to the attraction." We beg to differ, but doubt they'll see it our way.According to someone familiar with the life-sized replica of the 19-year-old egg-raid aficionado, there were no ropes or barriers blocking Beliebers from interacting with the dummy version of the otherwise blank performer.

  • Lorde Old Black People Tumblr Age Troll Meme

'Old Black People Who Look Younger Than Lorde' Is a Thing Now

It seemed Lorde's age-truthers might finally give it a rest after the rising New Zealand star's birth certificate emerged confirming that she is, indeed, 17 years old. But the Internet was blessed with a short attention span and a selective memory, so the trolling of the Grammy-winning teen born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor continues. The latest entry is all kinds of offensive: a Tumblr dubbed "Old Black People That Look Younger Than Lorde."Registered at, the site claims its mission is to "provide scientific proof that we, black people, have in fact found the fountain of youth." Of course, since the Pure Heroine pop-maker is the consistent point of comparison in every post, it's fair to say the site's creator also aims to play off of the popular accusation that Lorde is older than she claims to be.

  • Michael Jackson Fans France Emotional Damage Lawsuit

Michael Jackson Fans Awarded One Euro Apiece for 'Emotional Damage'

A court in France has ruled that the "emotional damage" of five Michael Jackson fans as a result of the King of Pop's death entitles them to one euro apiece. That total of roughly $6.82 American is ordered to come at the expense of Dr. Conrad Murray, who was charged with involuntary manslaughter two years ago for his role in the June 25, 2009 tragedy. As BBC News explains, the amount is symbolic, but the outcome is somewhat significant."As far as I know this is the first time in the world that the notion of emotional damage in connection with a pop star has been recognized," said Emmanuel Ludot, lawyer to the fans.

  • CD Sales Digital Downloads 2014 Album Numbers

Digital Album Downloads Could Trump CD Sales in 2014

It's no secret that the compact disc is a medium on the decline, but its death is one of the slowest — ahem — on record. The ever-growing download pool offers no substantial physical substitute, and while vinyl sales have increased over the past few years, they're still a niche market. With streams on the rise, the overall music-sales pie has been in a state of weird flux, but 2014 may see the digital album eclipse the CD once and for all.According to Billboard, full-length downloads have only surpassed compact disc sales numbers four times in history — and three of those instances occurred in this very young year. Nielsen SoundScan tallies the numbers weekly, and as of February 2, the 2014-to-date total finds overall album sales at 22.99 million, with 11.18M coming in the form of downloads, and 11.10M via CD.

  • The Black Lips 'Justice After All' Underneath the Rainbow

The Black Lips Play Raucous Bar Blues on 'Justice After All'

When SPIN visited the Black Lips in the studio to discuss their March 18 album Underneath the Rainbow, Jared Swilley refuted a misconception about the Atlanta garage-punk crew: "People say, 'Oh, they must do tons of acid all day.' It's not like that. It's stuff we've experienced in the past. We write about what we know — we write sad songs. Except we give them a poppy beat." Indeed, their latest is "Justice After All," a song that captures some of the strangeness of life on the road and sets it to a jaunty bar-blooze rhythm. The clanging guitar and country-fried calls to "all my friends" give the track a folksy feel, but it's far more raucous than "Boys in the Wood," the first share from the Black Lips' seventh album.Stream "Justice After All" below.

  • Karen O 'The Moon Song' Video Her Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson Play Karen O's 'Moon Song' in 'Her' Video

And Monday brought a duet version of Karen O's Her entry "The Moon Song" featuring Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig. Now, there's a video celebrating the Her song as well. The clip below, via The Hollywood Reporter, features stars Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson (voice of the titular "her") playing the Yeah Yeah Yeahs boss' song as it appears in Spike Jonze's film. There's other footage from the movie as well, which co-stars Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, and Olivia Wilde. Also included: a note from Karen O herself, which has been quoted in part previously.

In Frozen, Snow Queen Elsa is pressured into suppressing her powers, but on March 2, the actress who voices her will at last get to demonstrate the might of her pipes in person. Idina Menzel will perform the Disney film's Oscar-nominated song at the 86th Academy Awards, to be broadcast live on ABC. While she sings "Let It Go" in the animated feature, Demi Lovato recorded the single version that's helped propel the soundtrack to the top of the Billboard charts. The powerhouse track written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez is up against some stiff competition in the Best Original Song category.
