  • Fred Armisen's 'Late Night' Band Sounds Like This

Fred Armisen's 'Late Night' Band Sounds Like This

Seth Meyers officially becomes the new host of Late Night on Monday, February 24, but we already know a few details about the incoming administration. Earlier this month, the Saturday Night Live graduate shared a photo of the 8G Band, his in-house ensemble led by Portlandia star Fred Armisen (late of Trenchmouth) and featuring members of Les Savy Fav and Girls Against Boys: guitarist Seth Jabour, bassist Syd Butler, keyboardist Eli Janney, and drummer Kimberly Thompson. Now, via the NBC show's Facebook page, we get our first taste of the crew in action. Sure, it's only 13 seconds, but it's enough to confirm our suspicions — 8G sound exceedingly tight and play a driven-but-drifty, bass-powered brand of terse post-punk. Hopefully that'll mesh with whatever Kanye West has planned for his appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers.  // Post by Late Night with Seth Meyers.

  • Flaming Lips Ben Folds Usher 'Love in This Club' Video Bonnaroo

See the Flaming Lips and Ben Folds Messily Cover Usher's 'Love in This Club'

The Bonnaroo Line-Up Announcement Megathon (B.L.A.M.) broadcast brought with it the exciting news that the Tennessee fest's 2014 lineup will include Kanye West, Elton John, Frank Ocean, Skrillex, Jack White, Disclosure, and so many more. But it delivered another gift as well — the footage above of the Flaming Lips and Ben Folds covering Usher's Vegas-sleazy, Jeezy-assisted 2008 hit, "Love in This Club." Oh, and Sautrday Night Live's Taran Killam joins them as Bricen "Hey Man" Heymen, a living spoof of the "HEY!" thing that Mumford and Ed Sharpe and Arcade Fire and Lumineers foisted upon us in recent history. In truth, the thing is a hot mess, but it's an entertaining one.

  • Onyx 'We Don't Fucking Care' A$AP Ferg Sean Price Stream

Onyx, A$AP Ferg, and Sean Price Declare 'We Don't Fucking Care'

Onyx's mad-faced march into 2014 continues. Earlier this month, we heard the '90s hardcore crew's return single, "Wakedafucup," which also happens to be the titular track from their March 9 album. While that hard-charging track and its fitting video included a questionable cameo (Dutch crew Dope D.O.D.), a brand new share is far more promising. Fresh off of Trap Lord, A$AP Ferg returns Onyx's feature favor by contributing a verse to "We Don't Fucking Care," and Brownsville rap hero Sean Price drops by as well. The title pretty much says it all, but the bars below showcase a strong array of very New York styles. Meanwhile, the Snowgoons-produced beat rattles and clangs like an old-school classic.Speaking of, here's SPIN's 50 Best Rap Albums From 1993, Hip-Hop's Other Greatest Year.

  • Pink Oscars Performance Live Academy Awards

Pink Will Bring Her Trapeze to the Oscars Probably

Pink will perform at the 86th annual Academy Awards set to air live on ABC, Sunday, March 2. "Big news!!!" the Truth About Love star tweeted on Friday, February 21. "I'd like to thank @TheAcademy for inviting me to perform on the #Oscars on March 2nd!! #holycow." Of course, she shouldn't be surprised — she had the third highest grossing tour last year, and her genuinely death-defying performances have become standard at awards shows. To wit, at the Grammys she teamed with Cirque du Soleil for an aerial acrobatic performance of "Try" that ended in her landing on the stage in time to sing "Just Give Me a Reason" alongside fun. guy Nate Ruess. She also has a history of acting.

  • Le1f 'Boom' Stream Terrible Records Hey EP

Le1f Announces Record Deal With a 'Boom'

SPIN favorite Le1f has signed with XL Recordings in a joint venture with Terrible Records, the label co-run by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor. A proper album is in the works, but first we'll be treated to the Hey EP, which will include a re-recorded version of the man's beloved breakout "Wut" (the one with the video starring those Pikachu studs), along with four brand new songs. The first of those, "Boom," can be heard below in all of its left-field "Southern Hospitality"-recalling excellence. Dubbel Dutch lends his production prowess to the darkly popping cut, while beats for the rest of the March 11 digital release (May 6 for vinyl) come from Matrixxman, Harry B, and Boody (remember "Soda"?). To date, the man born Khalif Diouf has released three praise-worthy mixtapes: Dark York, Fly Zone, and Tree House. In a statement, Le1f called working with XL "my teenage dream." Hey track list:1.

  • Lily Allen Sheezus New Album Title Kanye West

Lily Allen, Devoted SPIN Reader, Names New Album 'Sheezus'

We never really had Lily Allen pegged for a loyal SPIN reader, but clearly she's a big fan of "Sheezus Talks," our 2013 all-female critical roundtable convened to discuss Kanye West's Yeezus, which wound up being our album of the year. As Glamour reports, the recently resurrected pop-skewering British star has announced the name of her forthcoming return LP, and it's name shall be Sheezus. "It's a confident title choice, and a little nod to Kanye West," she told the host of BBC's The Graham Norton Show before performing her latest single, "Air Balloon." In the music video for that song, she winds up finding Jesus ... hurtling through space on a gigantic cross.

  • Questlove SVU Dead Body Law & Order Fantasy

Questlove Will Die on 'Law & Order: SVU'

Dreams do come true. In November, ?uestlove made a list of "25 Things You Might Not Know About Me" for Us Weekly, and No. 7 read thusly: "It's my fantasy to play a dead body on Law & Order." Fantasy achieved. On Friday, February 21, SVU star Ice T tweeted the above photo, which depicts the Roots drummer and Tonight Show band boss on the coroner's slab, signature afro pick still in place despite what appears to be a bullet hole in his forehead."SVU Behind The Scenes: This corpse looks strangely familiar..." wrote Ice T, whose Twitter handle is, of course, @FINALLEVEL.

  • Pussy Riot Chicken Voina Airport Protest Putin Youth

Pro-Putin Youth Mock Pussy Riot With Raw Chicken

In early February, the freed members of Pussy Riot gave an interview in which Maria "Masha" Alyokhina claimed, "We live the same way other people do in Russia. We take the metro, we walk around. In terms of our everyday life, it's no different than it was before. Although we do get recognized occasionally." One of those occasions was Thursday, February 20, as she and Nadezhda "Nadia" Tolokonnikova arrived at a Moscow airport from Sochi. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, around a dozen pro-Putin youth showed up wearing chicken costumes, waving American flags, and singing their own mocking version of the song Pussy Riot released earlier in the week, "Putin Will Teach You How to Love." The video for that protest-punk anthem captured footage of Russian Cossacks whipping and pepper-spraying the women and their crew.

  • DZ Deathrays 'Gina Works at Hearts' Stream Single

DZ Deathrays Go Brutal and Ecstatic on 'Gina Works at Hearts'

Last we heard from Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley's DZ Deathrays, they delivered the quieter, but bursting, "Northern Lights." Now the two-man Aussie posse are back with "Gina Works at Hearts," an itchy punk missive that plays like the aural equivalent of an awful/incredible night out on the town. With brutal riffs cribbed from metal, vocals that'd fit right in on a Fugazi classic, and ecstatically warped melodies that recall Hot Hot Heat, these two plant a firm flag for their summer album, Black Rat.

  • Luvstep

Luvstep DJs Bring the 'Sunset' With Sweaty 69-Minute Mix

Joey Massarueh and Michael Lasday are known as Dirty South Joe and Flufftronix respectively, but with their powers combined, they become Luvstep. That Philadelphia-based two-headed beast was born on a Valentine's Day back in 2010, and emerges from whatever velvet-lined cave it calls home in February every year to unleash a new mix. The latest is Luvstep V: Sunrise / Sunset, a two-parter whose first hour, "Sunrise," recently premiered on the "Diplo & Friends" BBC Radio 1Xtra show. "Sunset" makes up the second half, and the mix's final 69 minutes (yes, "69" minutes) can be heard right here, right now. The track list below reveals plenty of highlights from folks as diverse as Sam Smith, Active Child, KOAN Sound & Asa, and Grizzly Bear (Diplo's incredible "Will Calls" remix).
