Exclusive: Download Two Kevin Devine Songs

Snag both sides of the Brooklyn bard's politically charged 7" single -- just in time for the stretch run of the presidential campaign.

Kevin Devine is a singer/songwriter who’s not afraid to speak his mind. The two downloads below, from his recently-released 7″ single, compress a litany of politically-charged imagery into just a few minutes of acoustic craftsmanship.

“Another Bag of Bones,” which SPIN.com premiered as a stream in July and as a video performance in April, is a “We Didn’t Start the Fire” of post-millennial trauma, from global warming to African unrest. “Love Me, I’m a Liberal,” available here as a free download for the first time ever, is Devine’s reworking of a classic folk tune by 1960s protest singer Phil Ochs. Where Ochs sang of Medgar Evers, JFK, and Pete Seeger, Devine name-checks Obama, FEMA, and Jon Stewart.

Devine’s tour with Rachel Yamagata kicks off this Saturday in Asbury Park, NJ.
