Watch Bill Callahan Pilot His Beautiful ‘Small Plane’ in a Lush, Green Garden

Bill Callahan recently performed a new song off of his upcoming Dream River album for NPR’s Field Recordings video series. The Maryland-born singer-songwriter set up in Manhattan’s 6th & B Community Garden to unfold “Small Plane,” a gentle stunner that shuffles at an almost waltzy pace. In the above clip, Callahan strums an electric and sings as sunlight breaks through the green leaves around him. Police sirens wail softly in the background, carrying over from distant streets. “I really am a lucky man,” he sings, but he’s not the only lucky one — we can all bask in this video’s quiet beauty.
