Willis Earl Beal returns on September 10 with his shadowy sophomore album, Nobody knows., on the way via XL Recordings imprint Hot Charity. The Chicago singer-songwriter already shared one track from his upcoming full-length (the ghostly “Everything unwinds.”), and now the enigmatic outsider has pulled the curtain back on another dusty composition. “Too Dry Too Cry” shimmies at a steady, forceful pace thanks to booming handclaps and Beal’s bluesy vocals. His soulful delivery simultaneously shrouds and enhances his carnal intentions. “In my one-room shack, you know we can’t go wrong,” Beal sings. “I got nine hard inches like a pitchfork prong / So, honey, lift up your dress and help me sing this song.” Hear it above, and pre-order Nobody knows. through XL’s online store.
