Jane’s Addiction has canceled five shows as part of its Spirit on Fire tour with Smashing Pumpkins, in the wake of singer Perry Farrell suffering an unspecified injury last Wednesday (Oct. 19) at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Since then, Farrell has been in “pain and discomfort,” according to a statement posted on social media, but has been receiving “rigorous physio therapy that has done wonders.”

Our Lady Peace will replace Jane’s Addiction at shows this week in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Montreal, Toronto, and Quebec City. The group is hoping to rejoin the tour on Saturday in Cleveland.

Guitarist Dave Navarro has already missed the entire tour with what’s being called a bout with long COVID, and has been replaced by Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen. Former Red Hot Chili Peppers/current Pearl Jam multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer has joined Jane’s at recent shows to perform on songs such as “Three Days,” while Bauhaus’ Daniel Ash has also made some guest appearances.

The Spirit on Fire tour is scheduled to wrap Nov. 19 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
