Hayley Williams is no stranger to covers — with her band Paramore she covered Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” last year — but yesterday she took on the biggest pop star of them all, posting a tossed off, piano-led, solo cover of Lady Gaga’s 2009 smash hit “Bad Romance” — watch the TwitVid below!
“Feel a bit crazy posting this, but you asked for it!” Williams tweeted. “My apologies to Miss Gaga. Love, your friend, Lady Haha.”
In the clip, the pop/punk heroine fixes her signature tequila-sunrise hair before jumping into an effortless yet pitch-perfect cover, first posted this morning by the Village Voice.
“Why haven’t I ever done this before?” Williams tweeted while recording the song. “Most fun I’ve had in ever.”
No word whether the recording was a birthday present to Gaga, who turned 24 over the weekend.
Paramore hit the road with Tegan & Sara this summer, headlining the Honda Civic Tour, which kicks off July 23 in Raleigh, NC.
