Dave Chappelle is preparing to release his first comedy specials in 13 years, but he’s also a concerned civilian. Chappelle was present at a Monday city council meeting at his home in Yellow Springs, OH, where he took a little over two minutes to express his concerns about police violence. He specifically noted a New Year’s Eve incident where police deployed tasers into the crowd while making an arrest. Chappelle cited the familial nature of the town before giving his thoughts.
“Now we’re being policed by what feels like an alien force,” Chappelle said in his brief speech. “I would beseech the council to look deeply and look hard… Literally, you can kill the game. In this Trump era, this is an opportunity to show everybody that local politics reign supreme.”
