Thundercat, Open Mike Eagle, Flying Lotus Bring Spacey ‘Ziggy Starfish’ to ‘Hannibal Buress’

Thundercat in New York City in May of 2013

Flying Lotus announced yesterday that he had a recurring musical role on Hannibal Buress’ new Comedy Central show and Wednesday night he offered the first widely available taste. Fellow psychonaut Thundercat — hot off his new mini album — and former Buress collaborator Open Mike Eagle joined FlyLo as the first musical guests on the show. The visiting duo launched into the Chicago-born rapper’s “Ziggy Starfish (Anti-Anxiety Raps)” which is a suitably interstellar ballad for a program that features Lotus. And if nothing else, Thundercat’s cosmos-exploring basslines certainly merit a watch. Check that out right here. Late night TV could use a bastion for musical weirdness, so let’s hope Why? With Hannibal Buress continues to fill that role.
