Watch Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Gloomy, Career-Spanning ‘Austin City Limits’ Set
The dark pop provocateur summarizes his three-decade discography
In yet another inspired booking from the people behind Austin City Limits, Saturday night marked the debut airing of an episode of the live music TV show featuring Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. A year after Push the Sky Away, this set finds the fiery dark pop performer looking back over the full course of his career. Inspired runs through gloomy old hits like “Red Right Hand” (which was incidentally covered last week by one-time collaborator PJ Harvey) and 2013’s “Mermaids” share the same lofty emotional space and provide for one of the better performances that the show has offered up in a season marked by stellar acts. You can watch the full performance above as you wait for more from the restless performer.
