Hear a Young Lorde Cover Kings of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody’

It's gonna make you notice

Years before she was singing about pop-star cliches in “Royals” — and a few years earlier than even the formation of her Fugazi-inspired high school band — Lorde tried her hand at Kings of Leon’s anthemic “Use Somebody.” The audio (above) demonstrates the singer’s keen understanding of her own voice, which at age 12 was a bit less throaty than it is no but no less intriguing and powerful.

Stream it above while you wait for the Lorde-curated Mockingjay soundtrack (out on November 17), and check out Kings’ original track below, as if you haven’t already heard it a thousand times.
