No Doubt Push and Shove Tour Plans to Record New Music

No Doubt

When No Doubt reunited in 2008, the So Cal ska-pop alums put touring ahead of recording a new album. That meant fans got to see No Doubt live almost right away, but it also meant the follow-up to 2001’s extravagantly eclectic Rock Steady didn’t arrive until last year. (It was called Push and Shove. It was, ahem, hella good.)

No Doubt won’t be putting the cart before the horse this time around, however. The band said yesterday in a Facebook post it has postponed 2013 touring plans in order to hunker down in the studio, and from the sound of it, this time they aren’t just eating macarons. The band began recording in January, the post says, and “the new music started flowing with unexpected ease.” It all apparently started when frontwoman Gwen Stefani got struck by inspiration while touring behind Push and Shove.

No Doubt don’t have 2013 tour dates scheduled at the moment, so there aren’t any ticket-buyers who will be affected by their change in plans. As recently as last month, the band had been busy on the media circuit: cameoing on cameo-filled Portlandia, reaching back to Rock Steady on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and landing the cover of Vogue. Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale even did a live duet of Bush’s “Glycerine.”

Hi Everyone,

Greetings from the studio in Los Angeles…Yes, that’s right, the studio!

While we were traveling the world last year promoting Push And Shove, Gwen mentioned she was inspired to write new music. In December, around the time of our hometown shows, we discussed the idea of starting 2013 by getting back into the studio together. We did so in January and the new music started flowing with unexpected ease. After spending three years recording the last album, this new pace feels incredibly exciting.

We have decided to follow our muse for the time being and focus on this new music that we don’t want to stop. So, we will be postponing our tour plans briefly while we endeavor to create something special and inspired. Our goal as a band is to share this new music with you as quickly as possible – both recorded and live on tour.

As always, thank you all for your kind words, incredible support and patience. We promise to keep you updated with photos and videos from the studio, so be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram to get the latest updates. We will see you soon!
