SPIN’s most recent cover star Azealia Banks took aim at Dolce & Gabbana on Twitter yesterday, calling the fashion house’s recently unveiled Spring 2013 collection “racist” for employing “black mammie” imagery. Banks is no stranger to style or Twitter drama — she was embroiled in web beef with producer Munchi when her chic “Luxury” video dropped last month — and the latest D&G line has already had its fair share of critics.
In fact, the brand published an article about the controversial “Moorish” faces and burlap sack-style dresses on its Swide site in late September, explaining that it all relates to the Ninth Century Muslim conquest of Sicily, which influenced local aesthetic at the time. (Images from the runway can be seen via Dolce & Gabbana’s main site.) Regardless, they’re probably thankful that Banks misspelled their name.
Definitely boycotting Dolce & Gabanna.

Whoever designed that racist ass Dolce and Gabanna collection needs a swift kick in the mouth and a big dick up the ass.

I really hate when people do corny, racist things then try to justify it as “art.”

It’s all just really unnecessary. the clothes in the collection were fine without all the “black mammie” imagery.

In happier news, Banks took the time to shout-out SPIN Play cover star Shirley Manson:
I just saw garbage! Shirley Manson is an #ALPHABABE. Their bassist is pretty sexy toooooooo !
