A Fashion Week without music would be like a new car with an empty tank — while it may be beautiful, it has nothing to get it going. The soundtracks of Fashion Week fuel runway shows and drive the parties, and the musicians, in turn, have been inspired from designers for decades before Kanye uttered his first “Givenchy.” So while we’ve seen an explosion in fashion references across pop and hip-hop as of late, the world of haute couture has been linked to music since Coco Chanel’s rumored affair with Igor Stravinsky way back in 1913. For Spring ’13, we rounded up a few of our favorite fashion-related tracks on Spotify — from new singles to old classics.
