Justin Timberlake Reportedly Engaged to Jessica Biel, Devoted to Portraying Elton John
Cry us a river, folks. More than five years after sweetly crooning a marriage proposal on FutureSex/LoveSounds hit “My Love,” Justin Timberlake has finally gone and popped the question for real. The former ‘NSync star proposed to actress Jessica Biel late last month in Jackson, Wyoming, according to US Weekly. “Justin knows how much she loves snowboarding and the mountains, so it was the perfect place,” an “insider” told the magazine.
Timberlake has focused more on acting than music in recent years, including a particularly memorable turn as Napster co-founder Sean Parker in David Fincher’s Oscar-winning The Social Network. He delivered a rare live performance in Las Vegas, but lately his musical endeavors have been tilted more toward comedy, such as on Saturday Night Live or in his ongoing “History of Rap” sketch with Jimmy Fallon. Still, despite kneejerk scorn originally heaped on ‘NSync and other late-’90s teen-pop acts, the futuristic soul-pop on Timberlake’s two solo albums — including production by Timbaland, the Neptunes, and others — ultimately made for some of the 2000s’ most entertaining and groundbreaking chart hits.
Biel and Timberlake have been on-again, off-again for four and a half years, US Weekly notes. A separate Timberlake insider is quoted as saying, “He knew it was the right time to propose.” The singer reportedly reunited last year with Biel, who has starred in such films as New Year’s Eve and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.
As for Timberlake’s film career, it just might paradoxically steer him back to music. Elton John wants the “SexyBack” and “Like I Love You” hitmaker to play him in an upcoming biopic. Timberlake is “No. 1 on my wish list,” John recently told the Los Angeles Times, pointing to Timberlake’s previous performance of the role in director David LaChapelle’s “Rocket Man” video. Apparently, Timberlake apparently is the only person who knows the words.
