Hear Beyonce Reign Over the Trap in 'Bow Down / I Been On'

Beyoncé already runs the world (girls), but on a new track posted to SoundCloud Sunday (March 17), Mrs. Carter goes back to her Houston roots. "Bow Down / I Been On" is a schizophrenic three-and-a-half-minute hybrid from producers Hit-Boy and Timbaland. Sasha Fierce is at her fiercest, shit-talking haters in a minute-long verse at the top: "I took some time to live my life, but don't think I'm just his little wife," she charges, commanding those bishes to bow, bow down. Shout-outs to H-Town, Geto Boys' Willie D, and Pimp C of UGK follow, all chopped and screwed with pitched-up and -down vocal warps, operatic wails, and skittering hi-hats.It's unclear whether "Bow Down" will appear on Bey's in-the-works album or if she'll perform it on her upcoming tour, but at least Lady Gaga now has someone other than Terry Richardson to share her "Cake" with.

Two white guys reviving hip-hop's greatest moments: still entertaining!  For Late Night With Jimmy Fallon's "Justin Timberweek" grand finale, the talk show host and media saturator added a fourth installment to their beloved "History of Rap" ballad. The past was proudly represented by entries from Run-DMC, A Tribe Called Quest, and Snoop Doggy Dogg; the future, however, got Macklemore. Watch the Strokes' Entire Career in Three Minutes in 'All The Time' Video

Though they haven't ruled it out completely, the Strokes most likely won't tour for their sprung-on-us fifth studio album, Comedown Machine, due March 26 on RCA. It's no wonder then, that the video for first single "All the Time" takes an equally laissez-faire approach. Instead of a high-concept shoot, the boys compiled a career's worth of archival footage — from their early club days to their late-night television appearances and festival headlining sets — in a breakneck three-minute survey of the band's evolution. Fitting for a song that marks the band's return to its muddy, garage-rock rock, the video is all happy times, band hugs, and fond memories, and we'd be lying if we said it doesn't inspire sweet pangs of nostalgia.

  • Ólöf Arnalds / Photo by Hulda Sif Asmundsdottir

Hear Olof Arnalds' Bewitching Ode to Desire 'Return Again'

On Ólöf Arnalds' stunning first two albums, 2010's Vio og Vio and Innundir Skinni, the Icelandic trobairitz unfurled winding streams of childlike vocals in her native tongue. For her third, Sudden Elevation, due March 5 on One Little Indian, she transitions to English, taking a step away from the angular and often cold sounds of fellow countrymen Björk and Sigur Rós. Though she's worked with both those artists, Arnalds is a closer cousin to Joanna Newsom; they share a fondness for poetic lyrics, sweetly wavering vocals, and gentle plucking. And while Newsom has her harp, Arnalds employs a guitar to harp-like effect, on Elevation's elegaic "Return Again." It's a quiet romanesca — built on the sparest piano and strings — that lets Arnalds ruminate on the beautiful burn of desire.

Morrissey, Protector of Animals Everywhere, Will Not Abide 'Duck Dynasty'

As carnivores worldwide work themselves into a frenzy over whether they'd ingested Mr. Ed-tainted discount meatballs, outspoken vegetarian Morrissey has taken aim at a more socially accepted act of animal cruelty: hunting. Moz has rescinded his RSVP to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday unless the late-night show removes the cast of A&E's Duck Dynasty from its lineup. And he's not so sorry. In a statement released to the press late Monday (February 25), the brooding PETA Scoreboard leader made the grand decree: "As far as my reputation is concerned, I can't take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers," Moz said. "If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty then we must step away."According to the AP, ABC has slotted in the Churchill band for Kimmel's February 26 broadcast.

Watch Night Beds Politely Tolerate Rachael Ray

In another strange instance of indie rock bleeding into Mom-cornered mainstream television, Night Beds' Winston Yellen happened upon an interview with Food Network personality Rachael Ray. The cook-turned-talk show host shadowed SiriusXM's Mark Goodman to fulfill her dream of becoming (her words) a "Rock DJ" on the day Yellen gave an in-studio performance of his moonlit charmer "Ramona." Ray often cavorts as a music lover, inviting Trenchmouth drumming geek Fred Armisen on her show to talk about Death Grips and putting on multiple years' worth of South by Southwest events headlined by her husband's band, the Cringe. But Ray clearly has no idea who Night Beds is, asking the Colorado native if it's just a rumor that he recorded at Johnny Cash's onetime Nashville home, which was never a rumor, really, because it's true and why would someone bother to pretend it wasn't?

  • Quvenzhane Wallis Annie

Oscar Lost, Hushpuppy Will Chase Awards Again as 'Annie'

Don't cry for little Quvenzhané Wallis. The precociously confident nine-year-old may have lost Best Actress to Jennifer Lawrence at the 85th Academy Awards on Sunday (February 24), but the Beasts of the Southern Wild star will get another shot at accolades in her next leading role, as a modern-day Annie."She is an extraordinary young talent with an amazing range, not only as an actress but as a singer and dancer, and we can't wait for audiences to further discover her," said Sony production president Hannah Minghella in a statement yesterday.Wallis replaces 12-year-old Willow Smith — who says she stepped down to "enjoy her childhood," but is speculated to have aged out of the role — in a contemporized re-adaptation for film co-produced by Jay-Z, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Hova will also contribute original tracks as musical director for the film.

Metallica Recruit Deftones, Red Hot Chili Peppers for 2013 Orion Music + More Lineup

Metallica have tapped Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, and Rise Against to co-headline the 2013 edition of the Orion Music + More festival. Relocated from Atlantic City to Detroit in its second year, the event's solid two-day lineup runs the gamut from legendary rock supergroups (Tomahawk, FLAG) and EDM godheads (Bassnectar, Datsik) to SPIN darlings (Japandroids, Death Grips) and, uh, others. The Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award recipients will also host a series of "lifestyle" events, including a custom car and motorcycle show, Hit the Lights film screenings, "Kirk's Crypt" — which looks to be, in the trailer above, a haunted house where horror geek Kirk Hammett is the main thrill — a Vans half pipe, and a Metallica museum.Orion will take place at Detroit's Bell Isle on June 8 and 9. Two-day passes will be available for $150; VIP passes will go for $750.

  • adele oscars skyfall academy awards best song

Watch Adele's Sparkling, Oscar-Winning 'Skyfall' Performance

Adele's shining performance of "Skyfall" was a rare bright spot in the arduous slog that was the 85th Academy Awards telecast Sunday night (February 24). The song followed two hours of lame one-liners from host Seth MacFarlane (to paraphrase: "Women sure hold grudges, amiright?" / "Hollywood is full of Jews!" and literally: "boobs!") as well as Anne Hathaway's overpracticed "unpracticed" acceptance speech. But the wait paid off.In a sparkling black Burberry gown, Adele swathed her Paul Epworth co-penned Bond theme in a honeyed vocal faithful to the record, those big notes saved for the last few intense bars of orchestra swell.

  • Taylor Swift I Knew You Were Trouble Yelling Goats Video

Taylor Swift's 'Trouble (Yelling Goats Remix)' Is the Internet's Finest Creation

Yelling Goats are not a hot new production outfit out of Tokyo. Yelling goats are the angst-riddled creatures afflicted with eerily human voices whose existential bleats were conveniently rounded up in a supercut that we hipped you to earlier this month. They are also the spirit animal of Frank Ocean's partner in unlikely power-coupledom, Taylor Swift. Because, like the bovine caprine with its indiscriminate taste for an ever-shifting commixture of rubbish, the man-eating pop star gnashes ramshackle through romances. How fated it must've been, then, that the two majestic species met in a video mashup. In the clip above, Swift's unstoppable "I Knew You Were Trouble" gets the wubs knocked out of it as a savvy YouTube user replaces her bass-addled whoas with the desperate wahs of the so-called "Broken Goat," a celebrity in her own right.
