Watch Lost in the Trees Relive 'Past Life' at Moog Music's Sound Lab

Last month, Lost in the Trees revealed the eerie music video for "Past Life," the darkly soulful title track from the North Carolina crew's third album. Now, to coincide with the record's February 18 release via Anti-, frontman Ari Picker and co. have shared footage of a live performance of "Past Life," filmed at the Moog Music headquarters' sound lab in Asheville, North Carolina. Even when it's rearranged to put extra emphasis on Lost in the Trees' new electro-rock aesthetic (note the three Moog synthesizers and set of electronic drums), the song runs on a beating heart and heavenly vocals. Watch the six-minute video above, and head over to iTunes or the Anti- store to purchase Past Life.

Stream SKATERS' New York-Mined Debut Album 'Manhattan'

SKATERS spew out windswept pop-punk that salutes (and skewers) the foursome's adopted home of New York City. Vocalist Michael Ian Cummings and drummer Noah Rubin grew up together outside Boston, and guitarist Josh Hubbard hails from England, but, as Rubin tells it, the band (which includes bassist/New Yorker Dan Burke) was founded on a mutual love of late '70s NYC punk. "We moved here excited for New York to be that place," he says, "and instead it was a very competitive and fragmented artistic environment."Enter Manhattan, SKATERS' debut album, an 11-track portrait of life in the Big Apple.

Fishbone Owe $1.4 Million for Stage-Diving on Fan

Fishbone have to fork over $1.4 million to a fan who sued them over injuries she sustained at 2010 concert. As the Associated Press reports, Kimberly Myers — a 46-year-old mother of three from New Jersey — broke her skull and collarbone after Fishbone's lead singer, Angelo "Dr. Madd Vibe" Moore, dived from a Philadelphia stage and landed on top of her. Now, a federal judge has awarded Myers a hefty payday, finding that Moore hasn't shown any real remorse for the incident.U.S. District Judge Jan DuBois wrote in a Wednesday ruling that despite the fact that Myers lost consciousness at the show, Fishbone "continued to perform as if nothing had happened." DuBois has ordered Moore and his business partner, bassist John Norwood Fisher, to pay $1.1 million in compensatory damages.

Direct Majical Cloudz's Live Show in Interactive 'Love Soul' Video

Thurston Moore, Palms, and Kevin Drew have all shared intense video valentines recently, and now Majical Cloudz have joined the fray. The Montreal synth duo just released an interactive music video for "Love Soul," their latest non-album single, following last year's "Savage" one-off. As seen above, the clip lets the viewer cycle through different black-and-white shots of Majical Cloudz performing the clinking ballad in an intimate, chandelier-filled venue. The bits of footage — which include a few close-ups of frontman Devon Welsh's wide-eyed stare — run on an endless loop, so you have to keep clicking to move the camera forward. In an official statement, Welsh said that "Love Soul" was written around the same time as Majical Cloudz's sophomore album, 2013's Impersonator, but ultimately left off the record. "It was a part of our set during our first shows," he said.

Palms Ruin Valentine's Day With Tragic, NSFW 'Mission Sunset' Video

Chino Moreno has been focusing on his † † † (Crosses) side-project lately, appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and sitting down for an interview with SPIN, but the Deftones leader has just shared a video for his other other band, Palms. Directed by Adam Mason, the clip acts as a companion to "Mission Sunset," a 10-minute epic from Palms' self-titled 2013 debut album. Billed on YouTube as a "short film," the piece tells the story of a tragic breakup, using time jumps to slowly reveal a narrative marked by heartbreak, infidelity, and, ultimately, death. In other words, just the sort of love story one should embrace on Valentine's Day. Watch the haunting visual above, then read SPIN's recent Q&A, Chino Moreno Talks His New, Not-at-All-Witch-House Band, Crosses.

Kanye West Gently Tells Sway, Charlamagne Tha God: 'Shut the Eff Up'

Kanye West swore that it'd be at least another six months until we would hear him "rant" again. Call us cynics, but we were skeptical, and with good reason: Noisey points to footage of a brand new, ahem, impassioned speech from Mr. West, delivered during his February 13 Yeezus gig in Pennsylvania. The target of 'Ye's wrath this time? Radio personalities Charlamagne Tha God and Sway, both of whom got into heated exchanges with West when they had him on their respective shows."If I go to a radio interview, shut the fuck up!" Kanye screams into the microphone, after cutting a rendition of 2005's "Touch the Sky" short. The man behind SPIN's 2013 Album of the Year then reminded the crowd that it's been 10 years since his landmark debut, The College Dropout, so he feels he's earned some bragging rights.

Watch Thurston Moore's Sweet, Candlelit 'Heavenmetal' Video

Perfectly timed for Valentine's Day, Thurston Moore has shared a new music video for pro-love song "Heavenmetal." Filmed and directed in Paris by the artist Julien Langendorff, the clip features the Sonic Youth co-founder snipping away at magazines with a pair of scissors, assembling word collages, and playing guitar in a candlelit space. When the camera isn't fixed on Moore, it's drawn to a pair of young women, friends who are happy to waste away the day with each other — they're too busy making themselves blood sisters to notice any change in the hourglass nearby.Watch the video, which was produced by Franck Annese, above. Though "Heavenmetal" originally appeared on Chelsea Light Moving's self-titled debut album, the tune is now being billed as a solo track from Moore.

    S. Carey Paints a Striking 'Fire-Scene' in His Lush Video

Speaking with SPIN recently, Sean Carey said that he would often let his mind wander to an imaginary place when writing his second album, the upcoming Range of Light. "It's this big mountain," the Bon Iver percussionist and solo singer-songwriter said. "There are all these cliffs and mountain creeks just coming out of the ground and flowing into each other. It's kind of desolate — there aren't really any trees... Part of my writing process was trying to picture that I was a falcon up on the cliffs."Now, with his latest music video, Carey (who records under the semi-alias S. Carey) offers a breathtaking tour of some peaceful terrain. The clip — for "Fire-scene," Range of Light's lead single and centerpiece — can't possibly capture the made-up mountain Carey would visit in his head, but director Joe Baughman does communicate the spirit behind the track.
