SPIN recently caught up with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo to talk about the band's raucous new LP, Hurley, which comes out next Tuesday. "There's just an insane amount of energy on tracks like... 'Memories,'" Cuomo said of the nostalgic cut. "[It's about] missing the excitement of being on tour, and you're missing the companionship of your bros."As they gear up for their album release next week, Weezer today unleashed a video to match the unhinged party-rock vibe of the song.

In the clip, Weezer team up with the Johnny Knoxville and his Jackass dudes for a three-minute celebration of 1980s SoCal skateboard culture. The clip is awesomely lo-fi-filmed with nothing more than a Super 8 camera-but features plenty of big-budget stunts, like Knoxville launching a jet ski out of a lap pool.

Cuomo's nostalgic vibe in "Memories" is also fully realized here: The band took inspiration from the 1987 cult boarding movie The Search for Animal Chin (which featured a young Tony Hawk) and filmed the clip in the empty swimming pool of Sun Valley, CA's Pink Motel, originally used by Hawk's skating crew, the Bones Brigade. "[It's] and old-school skate jam," director Jeff Tremaine told MTV of the video. Judge for yourself by watching below-and get the backstory (plus a stream of the song) here.
