[Update, Nov. 19: Today James Murphy confirmed that he’s already written eight songs for a new LCD Soundsystem album.]

Sure, LCD Soundsystem’s music was born for the dance floor. But it seems frontman James Murphy and Co. are looking to get your parents back to the club too — but first the electro band just needs to regroup.

According to guitarist Al Doyle (also of Hot Chip), LCD is not so much “on a break” as they are on “permanent hold.” [Via BBC 6]. But when they regroup — whenever that is — the band will take a new musical direction.

“We were thinking of doing something where we find a lot of the old disco singers in New York that might still be around from the ’70s, and get them in as guest vocalists with LCD as a backing band, and tour around as a disco heroes style show,” he said.

Sounds awesome, Al — can we start with this guy?
