Lana Del Rey is planning some Ultraviolence. The "Summertime Sadness" singer revealed the title of her next album at a Hollywood premiere last night for her new short film, Tropico. In widely circulated fan video from the event, below, she says, "I really just wanted us all to be together so I could try and visually close out my chapter before I release the new record, Ultraviolence."
No other details were available about the follow-up to 2010's Born to Die, and at this point it's also possible Ultra Violence will be stylized as two words. The phrase itself gained fame in Anthony Burgess' classic 1962 dystopian novella A Clockwork Orange and its masterly 1971 film adaptation by director Stanley Kubrick. Teenage protagonist Alex and his "droogs" go on wild orgies of nighttime mayhem, which they refer to as "a bit of the old ultra-violence."
