The marketers at Jaguar have been handing out wheelbarrows full of cash, so don’t knock Lana Del Rey for getting hers. The otherwise H&M spokesmodel lends her Born to Die: Paradise Edition promotional single “Burning Desire” to the sports car’s 2013 F-TYPE campaign, which not only ponied up for the velvet curtain-lined performance clip above but will put out a short film soundtracked to the song and starring Homeland‘s Damien Lewis later this year.
Reportedly filmed at the Rivoli Ballroom in South East London, the “Burning Desire” spot is a fairly straightforward affair. Del Rey takes a familiar stance behind a retro microphone as she groans, pants, and gyrates in a romantic silk sheath. Old found footage flashes behind her, but lest you forget this is a Jaguar commercial, there are plenty of sunset-lit shots of the convertible hugging the curves of a desert highway, racing toward the horizon. Fast cars might not be everyone’s idea of paradise, but at least for LDR it pays the bills.
