In the latest free holiday download news, the Hives are set to revive their dueling ways this yuletide season, releasing a gratis holiday duet with Cyndi Lauper by the name of "A Christmas Duel" [via Pitchfork.com]. The tune will be available via the Swedish rockers' website as a free download November 28-30.

"It may sound weird and come as a surprise to some, but we had to. It came to us. It landed in our lap and was way too good to shake or toss," the Hives said of the tune's miraculous birth. "We knew we had to record it."
"This goes to show even rat sideswipers can have a good Xmas too." Lauper added.
