Ramona Gonzalez takes one step further out of the bedroom on the second track released from the L.A. electro-funk singer-songwriter's forthcoming sophomore album, One Second of Love (due out March 6 via Secretly Canadian). Luckily, she mostly just ends up in a different kind of bedroom. Like the record's super-catchy title track before it, "In the Dark" is one smooth operator, upgrading the lo-fi veneer of 2009 debut Good Evening for a more luxurious model. That means honeyed synths, gently throbbing beats, subtle strums, and, of course, crystal-clear vocals. "I'll hold my hands up in the dark," Gonzalez sings, longingly, but her sultry coo is now in the spotlight.
