JUNO Awards 2016 Nominations: Justin Bieber, Drake, Majical Cloudz, and More

Destroyer, Shawn Mendes, Viet Cong, Alessia Cara, and more are up for awards

The JUNO Awards, Canada’s version of the Grammy Awards, have announced the nominations for their 2016 iteration, including Destroyer, Viet Cong, Justin Bieber, Majical Cloudz, and more. Up for Alternative Album of the Year at the ceremony this year are BRAIDS for Deep in The Iris, Destroyer for Poison Season, Majical Cloudz for Are You Alone?, U.S. Girls for Half Free, and Viet Cong for their self-titled 2015 release.

Artist of the Year nominees include City and Colour, Drake, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, and the Weeknd. R&B singer-songwriter turned Top 40 darling Alessia Cara is nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Drake’s longtime right-hand man and producer Noah “40” Shebib is up for Recording Engineer of the Year.

The night’s biggest category, Album of the Year, features big name nominees like Drake (If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late), Bieber (Purpose), Mendes (Handwritten), and the Weeknd (Beauty Behind the Mandess), with Jean Leloup (À Paradis City) taking the fifth slot.
