Hear Weezer and Best Coast Come Together on ‘Go Away’
The latest 'Everything Will Be Alright in the End' teaser video yields gifts
As Weezer’s been rolling out album teasers leading to the anticipated (and now slightly delayed) Everything Will Be Alright in the End, we’ve slowly been getting a fuller picture of redefined and purportedly returned-to-form Rivers Cuomo and Co., who ranked rather high on our 100 Best Alternative Rock Songs of 1994 list.
The most recent clip delivers a sneak peak at “Go Away,” featuring Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, complete with footage of the former tourmates together in 2010 in Los Angeles performing a half-acoustic “Island in the Sun.” (We have that show reviewed here.) Otherwise, the acting in the clip is pretty much whatever, turning off at least a few YouTubers, but we’re here to talk about the music really and the music is catchy and familiar like “Back to the Shack” before it. Watch above.
Cosentino took to the web to express her excitement over this collaboration, which has been teased previously but only now revealed. She said on Instagram, “Well- I co-wrote + am featured on a song on the new Weezer album so basically, all my teenage dreams have officially come true.”
And then on Twitter:
Thanx 4 yr kind words + support on my involvement w/ “Go Away”- @Weezer is/was SO important to me + my youth so this is huge for me!
