Miguel Scores Elton John Cover, NSFW Video for Big Sean’s ‘Ashley’

Miguel Big Sean Ashley Video Elton John Cover Album

Miguel is making moves to secure a huge 2014 for himself. The Los Angeles-based singer/producer is aiming to release his third album this year, and he’s laying down a pretty solid, ahem, yellow-brick road ahead of that goal. Along with Beck and Jenny Lewis, he’s premiering a song on the third season of HBO’s Girls. There’s a brand new video for his Big Sean team-up “Ashley” (above). And he’s also being tapped for an Elton John cover on the reissue for, yes, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

The very NSFW clip for Sean’s Hall of Fame single finds the MC on a pretty terrible adventure involving sex, drugs, violence, and duct tape. Miguel’s part is incongruous to say the least, but it sounds great: “And I, I wouldn’t trade it for the world, world, world / And I, just so fucking lucky you’re my girl, girl, girl.” Not a whole lot of luck happening for any of the characters involved in that grisly little short, so on to far brighter things.

On March 24, Universal will release a deluxe reissue of Elton John’s 1973 classic Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. In addition to all of the usual bells and whistles that accompany such a release (Live At Hammersmith 1973 on CD; a DVD of Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye to Norma Jean and Other Things; a 100-page book of goodies), there will be nine covers freshly recorded by the likes of Emeli Sandé, Fall Out Boy, Zac Brown Band, Hunter Hayes, and others.

Miguel and Wale are slated to take on “Bennie and the Jets.”

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road covers track list:

1. Ed Sheeran – “Candle in the Wind”
2. Miguel featuring Wale – “Bennie and the Jets”
3. Hunter Hayes – “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”
