Lee Ranaldo and the Dust Shred ‘Conan’ Gently With ‘Lecce, Leaving’

Lee Ranaldo Dust Conan Lecce Leaving Video Steve Shelly

Rock solid post-Sonic Youth band Lee Renaldo and the Dust hit Conan on Thursday night to perform “Lecce, Leaving.” Accompanied by his former bandmate Steve Shelly on drums, guitarist Alan Licht, and bassist Tim Lüntze, the silver-haired songsmith let loose an occasionally fuzzy, often anthemic alt-rock gush. That song, of course, hails from the group’s October debut, Last Night on Earth. Watch above and take note — this man didn’t tie for first on SPIN’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list for slacking on the shred. If you haven’t yet, dig into Kim Gordon’s Body/Head LP Coming Apart. Thurston Moore’s debut with Chelsea Light Moving was equally impressive. To find out where they all place, review SPIN’s 50 Best Albums of 2013.
