Hear Kelly Rowland Bloom on The-Dream’s ‘Where Have You Been’

The-Dream

“Where Have You Been” is the sixth track on The-Dream’s upcoming album IV Play, and also one of its finest. Kelly Rowland and Terius Nash sing of finding salvation in one another, but there are traces of acid in the song: “Where have you been? / I needed you there, where were you then?” The-Dream asks in an aggrieved tone, over a beat that flutters like a heartbeat.

Co-produced by Da Internz, “Where Have You Been” follows Rowland’s “Dirty Laundry,” a stunning sample of her new album co-written and produced by The-Dream. IV Play, as of this writing, is still out next Tuesday. Earlier this year, SPIN profiled his struggles to rediscover radio play.
