Baltimore lo-fi buzzers Teen Suicide have shared two new non-album tracks, “Greatest Trick” and “Sycamore.” The songs are posted to the group’s Bandcamp under the name the World’s Greatest, because, as Teen Suicide acknowledge in an accompanying statement on the site, their current band name isn’t exactly their favorite.
“Two tracks that can’t be on our upcoming album because they don’t fit anymore stylistically or sonically,” the band writes of “Greatest Trick” and “Sycamore.” “We love these tracks & so does our label but they no longer have a home so to celebrate our final tour under the horrible, juvenile, and problematic name ‘Teen Suicide’ (sorry) we are releasing these now for free/pay what you want.”
World’s Greatest was one of the possible new names under consideration when SPIN profiled Teen Suicide in April, but currently, they say, it’s a placeholder. Teen Suicide’s most recent album, It’s the Big Joyous Celebration, Let’s Stir the Honeypot, was one of our Best Albums of 2015. Listen to “Greatest Trick” and “Sycamore” below.
