Country music superstar and current judge on NBC’s latest singing show The Voice Blake Shelton stopped over at 30 Rock on Saturday night to put in work both as a musical performer and a host. As the first person to pull double duty on Saturday Night Live since Drake’s dual threat performance a year ago, Shelton had a lot to live up to. But with performances of two singles from his 2013 LP Based on a True Story... as well as a heaping helping of capable acting work, the singer proved he at least has the charisma to match, even if he’s working in a slightly different genre, to say the least. You can watch a performance of his ode to middle American men “Boys ‘Round Here” above and “Neon Lights” below, alongside a sampling of the skits he appeared in.
