Bruce Springsteen is set to receive a special Tony award celebrating the massive success of his loosely narrative concert show Springsteen on Broadway this year. The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced Springsteen’s award along with the wider pool of Tony nominations for 2018. Springsteen on Broadway recently extended its run and will stretch until December 15 of this year. It will end with a final count of 238 performances. The show continues to sell out every performance with ticket prices soaring above those for Hamilton. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it is possible that Springsteen will agree to perform at the Tonys due to his receipt of the honor. CBS will broadcast the 72nd Annual Tony Awards on June 10, with Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban hosting.
