While millions across the nation recoil in horror at this trainwreck of an election, some artists like Death Cab for Cutie and Aimee Mann have channeled their anger into writing anti-Trump songs. Now, Ted Leo has put out his own political rock anthem. “In the Mean Times” is his contribution to a series launched by Kickstarter called “Election Issues,” which recruits artists to create politically-motivated art. The song was released in tandem with an essay that expresses Leo’s whirling thoughts on the election and the current state of the United States in general. Listen to the track below and read his essay here.
