Protomartyr Share Jagged Adult Swim Singles Contribution ‘Born to Be Wine’

The Adult Swim Summer Singles Series stays gift-giving this week with “Born to Be Wine,” a one-off from post-punk re-invigorators Protomartyr. The song is a little more discordant and messy than the majority of 2015’s masterful The Agent Intellect, but packs the Detroit quartet’s trademark bite, with frontman Joe Casey doing his best Mark E. Smith on rants like “A selection of quality beers / Traded by dark practices.” (The title isn’t the only groan-worthy pun off a classic song title found therein, either, as Casey ends the first verse repeating the mantra: “I believe I cannot fly!”
