De La Soul Get Regal on New Song ‘Royalty Capes’

De La Soul have been exploring a more subdued and introspective sound on their recent tracks in the lead-up to And the Anonymous Nobody, the group’s first album as a trio since 2004’s The Grind Date. “Royalty Capes,” their most recent, finds them doing more of the same, with the running motif of royalty tying the track together: “The sky takes notes when we speak / Our capes move with the wind because of the wings beneath.”

Listen to the new track, produced by Dave (a.k.a. Plug Two), below. And the Anonymous Nobody drops on August 26.
