De La Soul Snag a Snoop Dogg Verse for New Track, ‘Pain’

After a 12-year wait, De La Soul will finally release their follow-up to 2004’s The Grind Date this summer. And the Anonymous Nobody, the trio’s eighth studio album (ninth including First Serve, which only features Posdnuos and Trugoy) is scheduled to drop on August 26. The breezy “Pain,” featuring fellow hip-hop OG Snoop Dogg, is a cut from the project. Snoop gets somewhat introspective during his verse: “Used to gang bang, used to love the clashes/ Now cash is the only motivation, but not for me G / I’m into public relations.” The track follows up their surprise EP For Your Pain & Suffering, released last month.

The new single comes days before De La Soul perform at New York City’s Governors Ball. Listen to the track, which comes with an interactive lyric video game, below.
