Original Beastie Boys Guitarist John Berry Dead at 52
He is credited with giving the group their name and playing on the 'Polly Wog Stew' EP
Guitarist John Berry, the original guitarist for Beastie Boys, died yesterday morning in a hospice facility in Danvers, Massachusetts, Rolling Stone reports. He was 52. Berry was in the iconic rap group from 1981 to 1982 and is credited with giving the band its name. He also played on the Beastie Boys’ debut EP, Polly Wog Stew. Berry was later replaced by Ad-Rock.
