Oneohtrix Point Never Deconstructs Janet Jackson’s ‘Rhythm Nation’ for Fashion Show

At their showcase during Paris Fashion Week the KENZO Fall/Winter 2016 collection was soundtracked by a remix of Janet Jackson‘s “Rhythm Nation,” commissioned of avant producer Oneohtrix Point Never. Of course “remix” is a relative term, as the free-form drone piece (with a live choir accompaniment, arranged by composer Thomas Roussel) held remarkably little resemblance to the Jam/Lewis-produced original, besides the closing “We are a part of a rhythm nation” chant.

It’s an arresting video regardless, and Dominic Sena would undoubtedly approve. Watch here, courtesy of Pitchfork.
